You have great learning support and pastoral teams but you want to be reassured that staff have the necessary knowledge and systems to ensure a consistent, timely response for every issue.
In other words, you want your school to be a model of best practice.
At the same time you’re aware that the issues your teams are dealing with in both areas are increasing in frequency and complexity. You see the impact of this every day on wellbeing, motivation and staff retention.
You need somebody who can build capacity in both areas without ‘telling’ experienced staff what they already know. Somebody who can build on the existing strengths of both teams and quickly define a shared vision for excellence.
This is what I do.
Confident that the school has clear, structured processes for responding to a broad range of pastoral issues including: School Refusal, complex mental health concerns (including return to school after hospitalisation), family disruption and serious illness.
Reassured that all staff including those with specific pastoral roles: heads of house and year advisors in particular, are working from a consistent, comprehensive knowledge base.
Convinced that the school has clear and fluent processes for designing and disseminating Individual Education and Adjustment Plans that meet all relevant legislative obligations including NCCD and DSE.
Certain that each adjustment plan is building the capacity of your entire teaching staff to effectively differentiate for all students.
Secure in the understanding that the experience and knowledge of all staff is being fully utilised - your teams are working together to provide fluent wraparound support.
