WHY

Every school supports students with a range of common pastoral and learning issues. These include mental health diagnoses (anxiety, mood disorders), disabilities such as ADHD and autism, school refusal, family conflict and more.

The staff who support these students (usually Heads of House and Year Advisors) are also at risk of burnout and vicarious trauma.

Equally, the impact that these issue have on learning can become a ‘secondary’ issue - the expertise of your Learning Support Team is not fully utilised to mitigate the impact of the pastoral concern. And make a recurrence less likely.

For most school heads, managing these issues and supporting staff (and parents) represents a huge drain on resource. Much of the the stress and staff attrition that often ensue could be avoided by building capacity and streamlining processes.

This is what I do.

I’d welcome the chance to work with your school or discus the process in more detail.
